Traveling Words!

I picked up an idea from a teacher in Sweden.

Make a notebook out of lined paper.
It should only be able to hold two to three words on each line.
The topic is to write what comes to mind when you see the short word the previous writer chose.

You can write a little story.
A poem.
A riddle.
A question.
Anything that comes to mind when you see the word.

When you have written your lines,
choose a new word.
A short word,
for the next writer.
If you want to you can sign your entry.

The students really took this to their hearts.
They are Reading.
And Writing.
And Thinking.
And Communicating.

So if you are visiting our classroom, please read our Traveling Words.
It's always up on the board.
Unless someone is writing in it, that is!

Legos'!

Right now we're building Legos' for a contest.
The Everhart Museum will have a Lego exhibit in the spring and they want students to send in pictures of Lego Art. The art works will then be juried and the ones picked will be hung in the museums Gallery One.

The kids in the class are all excited and are coming up with great creative ideas.
Whenever our art teacher Michael comes into the class room, all they want to do is work on their Lego Art.
Wonderful, isn't it!

Some pics of what we're doing RIGHT NOW:

We're not finished yet! Still have time to work on it!

The Intermediate class room

We do many things in the Intermediate class room. Like Math 2 and Language 2, Handwriting, and Language and Social Studies. Those are just some of the many things we do in the Intermediate class room. Now some of us are entering a Lego contest if any of us win we could get our work in the Everhart Museum!!!!!! How cool could that be !!!!!! I am entering the contest. I am building my stuffed green monkey Sprite. I really hope my Lego monkey wins. Our deadline is December second. I can't wait untill then! But only 5 entries can be accepted from every class. Even if my Lego monkey is accepted I would be soooo happy!!!!!

Native American Tribes!

Wednesday the students presented their group works on Native American Tribes. We started this project when we were at the park in October. There we made a lot of hands on-activities about Native Americans and some of these things we've had on display outside the school office.
Back at school the groups started their research work about four different tribes.

The tribes were: Lenape, Erie, Algonquin and Iroqois.
They had to find out about the kinds of food they ate, what clothes they wore, what kind of transportation they used and how they lived. Some of them also found out about certain games they played. For the presentation they made costumes and other props to show the audience what they learned.
We learned a lot about the tribes and all the groups did great presentations.

Here are some pictures of some of the things we have made during this project!

Ceremonial Rattles

Mosaics

Weaving

God's Eyes'

Our display in the hall.

Weavings, rattles, God's Eyes', pottery, mosaics on display.

For the presentations some of the students made specific props for their tribe.
A Lenape necklace in purple and white, originally made of shells, but here made of small beads.
And a long house from the Iroqouis.

Pretty nice work, isn't it?

Tacos vs. Steaks

One time in an evil land Steaks ruled the world and were very rich. The Tacos lived in a village, and were very poor. Then the Tacos decided to invade the Steaks, but they had a long adventure. The first adventure took place in a bubbly swamp. The second adventure took place in an evil land. The third adventure was a war with the Steaks. So the Tacos left the village, and left on there journey. The Tacos didn't bring much food so they knew they had to travel very quickly. So if the Tacos didn't travel quickly enough they would be goners. So the Tacos got to the bubbly swamp. There were only three hundred- two Tacos and fifteen Tacos died in the bubbly swamp so two hundred eighty-seven Tacos lived. The Tacos had five miles until the evil land. The Tacos walked one mile a day. The Tacos knew they had three days worth of food, and had to travel faster. The next day, they traveled one.six miles, but they had two. four miles left to travel. The Tacos had two days worth of food left. Meanwhile the Steaks were counting their money, but they had no idea the Tacos were coming. The Tacos walked one.three miles that day. The Tacos had one days worth of food left. The Tacos had to go .nine miles, and they did. The Tacos got to the castle, and ate. Then the war started, and the Tacos got their weapons like guns, arrows, and shields. The Tacos went, and invaded the Steaks mansion. The Tacos started a war two hundred eighty seven vs. One hundred eight the people were being killed very quickly. So the people left were two hundred thirty-two vs. fifty-three hours passed it was then two hundred vs. one. Everyone was ready to kill the last Steak. . . and they did. The Tacos took the Steaks money, and went back to their village. First the Tacos bought lots of food. Then the Tacos had a big feast. Then the Tacos all bought very nice houses. Then the Tacos lived happily ever after.

The story of Eragon

I first saw Eragon, a k a the Bearded Dragon, in CA. I was looking around and I was about to get a gecko but I heard a tapping and I looked up. I heard that it can wave to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think they're awesome and they can dance!!! I even put him in my moms ears, she jumped and Eragon fell into my moms bra! I thought she was dancing. I was going to name him Beyonce but I thought of the movie Eragon and it just clicked. My dogs aren't crazy about him. I am going to have to walk Eragon very very soon :). He is very calm if you put him on your shirt and run around the room he will stay. They eat apples, crickets and pellets. The boys have black spots and the girls have no beard. They get very very big.
The sad thing is they only live for ten years :(

Here is a picture of him:).

Economy Class!

Right now the kids are listening to Harold.
He's teaching them about the stock exchange and how stocks and bonds work.
Very interesting to listen to I must say. The kids have really good questions too!
